| Der Pico del Teide ist mit 3.718 Metern die höchste Erhebung auf der Kanarischen Insel Teneriffa und ebenfalls höchster Berg auf spanischem Staatsgebiet. Der Teide ist der dritthöchste Inselvulkan der Erde. Er gehört zum Gemeindegebiet von La Orotava. 18.990 Hektar der Bergregion bilden einen der dreizehn Nationalparks in Spanien. | |||
| Teide or Pico del Teide (traditional English: the Peak of Tenerife), is a volcano on Tenerife, Canary Islands. At 3,718 m (12,198 ft) above sea level - It is the highest mountain in Spain and the highest mountain in any Atlantic island. The island of Tenerife itself is the third largest volcano by volume on Earth making Tenerife the third largest volcanic island on Earth. Teide is currently dormant, having last erupted in 1909 from the subsidiary vent of Chinyero on the west slope. Other significant eruptions occurred in 1704-05–1706 which destroyed the town and principle port of Garachico, plus several smaller villages and 1798. |

| El Teide es un volcán, patrimonio de la Humanidad, situado en la isla de Tenerife (Islas Canarias, España). Con una altura de 3.718 m sobre el nivel del mar y unos 7.000 m sobre el lecho oceánico, es el pico más alto de España y el de cualquier isla atlántica y es el tercer mayor volcán de La Tierra desde su base, después del Mauna Loa y Mauna Kea, ambos en la isla de Hawaii. En 1954 el Teide y todo el circo de su alrededor es englobado en el Parque Nacional de Las Cañadas del Teide. Actualmente se utiliza el nombre de Parque Nacional del Teide y como celebración del 50 aniversario de su transformación en Parque Nacional se inició una campaña para que la Unesco lo declarara Patrimonio de la Humanidad, siendo nombrado como tal el 28 de junio de 2007. |
